Terrence Howard, Lou Diamond Phillips, Rachel York, and Natalie Cortez Win Top Acting Honors in Travolta Family Entertainment Golden Icon Awards

NEW YORK -Travolta Family Entertainment is pleased to announce the winners of the 2007-2008 Golden Icon Awards.

Terrence Howard won Best Actor honors for his race-reversed role as Brick in the Broadway production of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof. Natalie Cortez won Best Actress honors for her performance in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line.

Honors for Best Musical went to the Broadway production of A Chorus Line, Best Dramatic Stage Production honors went to Cyrano de Bergerac starring Kevin Kline, and Best Comedic Stage Production honors went to the Broadway run of Spamalot.

Lou Diamond Phillips and Rachel York won Best Actor and Best Actress in a Touring Production for their respective roles in the U.S. national tour of Camelot.

Chita Rivera was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her theatrical work,

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat received the award for Best West End Stage Production. Best Regional Musical honors went to North Carolina Theatre for its production of Annie Get Your Gun. Best Regional Dramaic Stage Production honors went to the Redtwist Theatre/The Actor’s Workshop Chicago-based production of Equus/ Best Regional Comedy Stage Production honors went to the Orlando production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.

In non-stage categories, Across the Universe from director Julie Taymore (Broadway’s The Lion King) won Best Picture, Best Dramatic Picture, and Best Musical Picture. Adam Pascal (Broadway’s RENT, Cabaret, Aida) won Best Small Venue Concert Performance, Neil Patrick Harris (Broadway’s Assassin’s, Cabaret, Proof) won Best Actor in a Comedic Television Performance for his role on How I Met Your Mother, and D’Monroe (Broadway’s Jesus Christ Superstar, RENT) won Best Independent Album for Don’t Scream on Roe Records.

The Golden Icon Awards have been presented annually by Travolta Family Entertainment since 1993, highlighting achievements in Entertainment, Fashion, and Leisure.

Committed to recognizing positive achievements, but not without a sense of jest, the Travolta Family Entertainment Golden Icon Awards have awarded the Humanitarian Efforts of political leaders and product awards based on detailed testing, while reserving enough humor to offer awards for Least Bad Actor in an Otherwise Terrible Production.
